Money is currency and coin that are guaranteed as legal tender by the government Legal tender, is anything which when offered as payment pays-off the debt. (Therefore personal checks, credit cards, debit cards and similar non-cash methods of payment are usually considered legal tender.) The U. S. government prints money. The amount printed is tightly regulated to maintain value.
