Learning Target Today I am learning to identify my task and prepare for a debate. I can do this by demonstrating the ability to unpack my assessment and research my topic using various sources to prepare for a debate.

Write and argumentative essay, using ethos, pathos and logos in which you convince an audience to support your claim about a debatable idea. Use your research and experience or observations to support your argument. On your paper create the chart below. Using the statement above, circle the nouns and underline the verbs. Write them in the box below. Skills / Verbs Knowledge / Nouns

Research Debate Topics

Outcomes Researching: Students are crafting annotated bibliographies and synthesizing quality sources for research Language Arts Skills: Students are crafting arguments based on the three forms of persuasive writing. Application to Task: Students can use debate and research information to craft argument paper with LA teaching.

Final Task “ Franks Debate” –Old school, You Tube Create a library debate between sides or classes. Assess using rubric. Expand into a final or tournament, modeled after battle of the books. Use primary documents to increase Informational text literacy as your battle books. Compile in data base.

Imagine! Five Year Vision and Plan (For this Specific goal)
Expanding task definition in this manner to History by focusing on Primary documents. Expand to Science, Article Research to compare and contrast scientific topics and issues. Grow the Management System of the Library by creating Primary Document resources and you-tube sites to enhance learning. Increase Reading Advocacy in the Area of Informational text. Break down the physical walls and informational walls by building out. Align with district and building goals and assessments.
