The House of Sarah provides counselling to those who are in need of a ‘listening ear, a warm heart and a helping hand.’ Funding from AMB especially covers admin. costs, rental, utility, phone costs + 2 counsellors. The House is the only provider offering a specifically Christian network of services working together to end violence and abuse against women and children in our families, churches and communities. 5 House of Sarah BREAKING THE SILENCE The House of Sarah spear-headed the “Breaking the Silence” campaign which has gone global. 6 Drop-In Centre for CSEC
$9500 Grant for 2017 The Diocese of Polynesia in Fiji is establishing a drop-in centre for the young victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC). The drop-in centre will offer a safe refuge for these children to begin the process of healing and restoration. Sexual child abuse, molestation, rape, sexual exploitation, and sexual trafficking are growing and worrying concerns in Fiji. There is a critical need to provide child protection and proper care to help not only victims but also those that face very high risk and vulnerable situations so they can progress positively in life. In 2017 planning for the Drop-in-Centre will continue. This will entail developing a business plan for the Centre. In 2017 Rev Jone Tuiwaiwai was appointed to replace Joe Sanagar to administer the work of Anglicare, especially the Care Committee for Disaster Response. Anglicare Polynesia development

8 Mission Support The Anglican Church in Polynesia has 26 parishes spread across the Pacific as well as 4 parishes in New Zealand. In Fiji each parish has a number of worship centres in which many have congregations in excess of 100 people. Most priests are self-supporting or “worker” priests who work between 20 and 30 hours a week, carrying out their ministry duties while still undertaking their role as the main provider for their families which in the rural areas involves maintaining a small subsistence plot of land. $57,000 Grant for 2017 Mission Support – a project supported by AMB for some time. Evangelism, mission and outreach and discipleship continue to be the focus of the ministry of the Diocese. Undergirded by the 2013 Diocese Synod theme “In Christ We Move Together” clergy and laity work together to proclaim the gospel in a multi-cultural and multi religious society. Twenty-one stipendiary and six non-stipendiary clergy are partly supported in their ministries from AMB funds. The AMB funds contribute to their stipend in recognition of the ministries they are carrying out in their communities. Within the parishes training in discipleship is important so that they remain faithful witnesses of the gospel. The goal of this project is to support the clergy and lay ministers so that they can extend the ministry of the church to the wider community and to increase the number of worship centres and new members of the church. 9 $7600 Grant for 2017 ($3800 for each Water Tank)
Water tanks for Cawaira & Kasavu It is good to have Water Tank projects started again this year, this time in Cawaira and Kasavu $7600 Grant for 2017 ($3800 for each Water Tank) Kasavu and Cawaira are both located in Vanua Levu. Kasavu has a water reservoir but it dries up during the dry season. Cawaira has intermittent water supply because of its location on a high ground. Both worshipping communities suffer during certain times of the year. Therefore the water tanks is a tremendous help to these communities.
