3. 1.It is commanded that we do this by Jesus in Matthew 29:19. 2.It gives the assurance of the forgiveness of sins to the one who is baptized as stated in Acts 2:38 & Acts 22:16. 3.There is a visible means by which the grace of God comes to the one being baptized -- WATER,

4. Quantity does matter! It’s not HOW MUCH WATER that counts. Dripping water on a person’s head or cupping the hand to pour water on the person’s head IS NO LESS A BAPTISM than submerging a person completely under water.

6. Involves NO MAGIC There’s no mystery. Doesn’t depend on the faith of person being baptized Either one takes away from what God is doing!

7. 1.God adopts us as His children & we are members of His Church. 2.We receive the forgiveness of our sins. 3.We are given the gift of FAITH. 4.We have the promise of eternal life in heaven.

8. Talk to your parents about the day you were baptized. Ask them how they felt that day. Ask them what promises they made on your behalf when you were baptized. Did anyone else make promises for you when you were baptized? Who were these others? When you have had a chance to visit with your parents about these things, then write down the things you learned. I also want you to share your thoughts about what they said with you. Then follow the instructions on the last slide.
