About the Scholarships
-Money donated by generous local organizations to help Triton students pay for college. -Some for Triton students only, others open to other area high schools as well. -Scholarship recipients are decided by committees, either ones directly through the sponsoring agency, or our in-house committee. -Qualifications range from simply being a high school graduate with post- secondary plans, to more specific ones based on major or interests. -Scholarships are awarded at our Awards Assembly on Friday, June 2nd.

Scholarship Application Process
What do you need: -Scholarship packet -Highlighter -Naviance access -Printer

Step 1 Go through the Scholarship Packet and highlight scholarships you might qualify for.

Step 2 -Log-in to Naviance -Click on Colleges tab, then click on
‘Scholarship List’ at the bottom.

Step 3 -Click on scholarships you are interested in.

Step 4 -Download application

Step 5 -Fill out application
-You can print out application and fill in with blue or black pen (be neat!) OR -Fill out application on your computer by filling in/typing in the form fields and then print. *Note--you must complete the form in one sitting, and then print, as it won’t save the information you type in.

Step 6 -Complete the following items:
-Personal Resume: Use Naviance template, or list your activities, jobs, etc in a document. -Statement of Need, in paragraph form (outline included in scholarship packet) -Cover Letter, in paragraph form (outline included in scholarship packet)

The Common Scholarship Application
-Not to be confused with the college Common Application. -Download the Common Scholarship Application form from Naviance and fill out ONCE for numbered scholarships. -Note that a few of the Common Application scholarships do still require an essay (Numbers 11, 16, 23, 24, & 31). Click into these scholarships in the Naviance list to find essay requirements.

Authorization Release form
-Download from Naviance -We cannot submit any of your scholarship applications without this form!

Step 7 Bring copies of the following items to guidance:
Completed Scholarship Applications Authorization for Release Form (check that all scholarships that you are applying to are listed) Cover Letter Statement of Need Letter(s) of Acceptance, if you have them, if not indicate top 3 schools Personal Resume All required essays Outside recommendations (Supervisor, Coach, Friend, etc.) SAT score report Any other required materials (i.e forms, etc.) GUIDANCE WILL PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING: Transcript 2 Recommendations (Guidance can only supply teacher recommendations if you requested them)

Step 8 -Most scholarships will be announced or awarded at our Awards Assembly on Friday, June 2nd. (A few scholarship organizations may contact recipients prior to this date.) -If you are a scholarship recipient, be sure to write a thank you note to the scholarship committee.

Reminders -March 6th, 2017 is THE DEADLINE. If you see a different deadline on a form, disregard. ALL scholarships are due March 6th. -Pay attention to detail. Some scholarships have multiple components. -Write neatly, and if your handwriting isn’t neat, type it instead. -Be polite and gracious to Ms. Kenyon and Ms. Emery. They will be handling a lot of scholarship applications!! -COME TO SEMINAR!! We will be working on scholarships and offering assistance.

Final reminders -Don’t succumb to senioristis! Keep those grades up.
-Q2 transcripts will be sent to colleges late next week. -Update Naviance with college outcomes.
