The Humanistic Domain includes six separately scored components (listening skills, respectfulness, empathy, professionalism, ability to elicit information, ability to provide information), which are measured by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners' Global Patient Assessment Tool. The Biomedical/Biomechanical Domain has three separately scored, weighted components: data gathering (reflecting the examinee's ability to obtain a medical history and perform a physical examination); osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT, reflecting the examinee's ability to integrate osteopathic principles into clinical practice and to use OMT); and SOAP Notes (reflecting the examinee's written communication skills and ability to synthesize information, develop a differential diagnosis, and formulate a diagnostic and treatment plan).
