The Holocaust in Europe 2019
“The things I saw beggar description…The visual evidence and the verbal testimony of starvation, cruelty and bestiality were so overpowering…I made the visit deliberately, in order to be in a position to give first hand evidence of these things if ever, in the future, there develops a tendency to charge these allegations to propaganda.” –General Dwight D. Eisenhower

Group Leaders: Laurie Schaefer and Kristin Thompson
Laurie and Kristin are both Museum Teacher Fellows with the USHMM with varied travel experience. They have worked together for years with the Museum Teacher Fellow program and with the Belfer program and are excited to lead this first trip with their fellow MTFs to visit the places of memory of the Holocaust in Europe.
3
While we know that a teacher’s budget for going on a European trip may be non-existent, if you are willing to invest the time in raising donations, you will find that an investment in a travel experience where you get to visit the places about which you teach your students is priceless.
