Peculiar Power Conditions In HP
Power in Himachal Pradesh is predominantly Hydro with the availability comprising of: Own Generation ( 100 % Hydro) – 467 MW Central Sector/bilateral shares (10 to 15% thermal) – total approx. 900 MW This results in HPSEB being surplus in power during the monsoon months, and extreme deficits in winter months since Our own generation reduces almost to % due to lean water discharge Similar reduction happens with our Central Sector Shares from hydros in the region. There is an increase in demand due to the cold weather

Meeting the Growing Demand - Measures
Utilization of: Own generation. Utilization of 100% SOR shares. GoHP entire entitlements in NJHPS & NHPC Projects & other upcoming Projects connected with CTU during winter months. Generation shares in HPPCL Projects against equity. Purchase of power from existing SHPs and coming up in the State. Emphasis on enhanced shares in Central Sector generating stations particularly UMPPs. Banking of power during monsoon for its return during winter months. Purchase of Power from IPPs with whom GoHP has signed IAs Purchase of power from open market/energy exchange platforms.

Meeting Consumption in the State
HPSEB Ltd. Has requisitioned power from upcoming UMPP & other projects being developed in Central Sector/ Joint venture as per details given below: Barh-I & II STPP North Karanpura STPP Rihand-III STPP Meja STPP Lata Tapovan HEP Rupsiabagar HEP Orissa-I (UMPP) (100MW) ( ) Tamil Nadu-II (UMPP) (45MW) ( )

MEASURES TO MEET GROWING DEMAND IN INDUSTRIAL BELTS
22
To ensure availability of power to all, especially to our esteemed industrial consumers;
Transmission system is being upgraded/ augmented and new elements are being added Also, Sub-Transmission & Distribution elements are being added in the existing system
23
New Initiatives Infrastructure worth Rs. 1,000 Crs has already been set up in the state to cater to the Industrial belts of the state Another Rs. 900 Crs is being spent on augmenting/upgrading the infra- structure in the next two to three years…
24
New Initiatives Works to be completed during next two years for capacity addition 220/66 kV substation at Uparala Nangal (Nalagarh) 400 kV, 2X 315 MVA sub station at Kunihar along with 400 kV transmission line from Nalagarh to Baddi R-APDRP (Part-B) Scheme for Baddi Town worth Rs Cr. has been submitted to GOI under which provision for HVDS, renovation, modernization & strengthening of 11kV system has been made. Augmentation of existing 20 MVA power transformer to 40 MVA at 132/66 kV substation Pong (Sansarpur Terrace) Reduction in T&D Losses to enhance availability.
