2. Find a picture of a textured furry animal: profile or face forward and image copy

3. In photoshop open a new file and paste or place your animal in it image free transform and size it (do not warp)

4. Image adjustments>brightness and contrast

5. Image >adjustment> photo filter Pick a filter to add a hue to the photo

6. Using the marquee selection tool edit> copy

7. Edit paste in your animal edit free transform and re size it (do not warp!)

8. Create another new file

9. Edit paste same animal photo in

10. Using the quick selection tool or the lasso tool select the animal

11. While animal is selected at the top of the screen click the “refine edges” button

12. Increase the feather of the selection so it looks fuzzy around the edges and in the output select the new layer and layer mask

13. Choose the smudge tool

14. with the smudge tools strength on about 30 start smooth/ brushing the fur in the direction that its grows the colors and fur with start blending together in a painterly style

15. Continue to smudge the whole animal
Continue to smudge the whole animal. be sure to adjust the size of the brush and strength of the smudge around small or delicate areas

16. now that the whole animals has ben smudges choose a smaller diameter for your brush and raise the hardness about mid way on the brush edge

17. go around the edges to pull out hair to give the illusion of fur texture

18. open up for reference picture so that you can see both your art and it on your screen

19. Start to paint on top of your animal, first we will accent the highlights Notice around the eye. I placed a lighter color than was there to exaggerate it

20. exaggerate the value by painting the darks
