Why We Should Recycle A presentation by Daiya Leonard

2 Introduction We must take action against the issue of pollution because of the fact it diminishes quality of life, and will affect our communities and our children far after we have died. Although everyone enjoys wifi, travelling, and staying warm in the winter, at what point do we draw the line between wants that take tolls on the environment and necessities that are crucial to survival. Earthquakes,Tsunamis, and Hurricanes are all natural disasters that have swept across the entire world, people have lost power, their homes, their pets, and most importantly, their families. But lately these aren’t as natural as you may think. These things are forces that have been contributed to by years of ozone depletion and global warming.

3 Body Air Quality Air pollution occurs when harmful substances including particulates and biological molecules are introduced into Earth's atmosphere Water Quality Water pollution is a form of environmental degradation where pollutants are directly or indirectly discharged into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds Wasted Energy Energy waste is a largely invisible issue despite its impact on our checkbook and the environment

4 How can I recycle in my community?
Tip Composting Composting is a process where waste degrades into compost, which can then be used in your garden to help it grow. It is an excellent way to recycle garden and kitchen waste such as plant trimmings and leftover food.

5 It’s simple! Local recycling facilities, community projects, and cash or cans. Tip Planting trees Planting trees in your garden helps to improve the environment by reducing global warming and providing a home for many animals.

6 Air pollution Most people agree that to curb global warming, a variety of measures need to be taken. On a personal level, driving and flying less, recycling, and conservation reduces a person’s "carbon footprint"—the amount of carbon dioxide a person is responsible for putting into the atmosphere.

7 Water Pollution Our rivers, lakes, aquifers, and coastal waters aren’t unlimited resources that can handle whatever we take out or dump in. These waters need protection. Story for illustration purposes only

8 Energy Waste If we didn't have energy efficiency, we'd have to produce or import energy sources like oil, natural gas, and coal. So, energy efficiency helps us keep more resources on the earth longer. From power plants to cars, consuming energy can produce emissions that harm our environment, avoiding pollution.

9 Counter Argument Because people do not immediately see the result of their good deed and this can sometimes discourage them from contributing to the positive benefits of recycling. If a task is not extremely easy they won't participate, the most common excuses are that it’s too time consuming and it is not convenient or accessible to where they live.

10 Conclusion Goal Main Idea Call-to-Action
My goal is that you all will choose to live better lifestyle not just for your health, but everyone in your community and your grandchildren. Main Idea Water,Air, and energy are most important to our way of life now so we should be weary to abuse our power Call-to-Action I encourage everyone to recycle old bottles, glasses, old homework anything that can be recycled because it’s never too late to make a change and this isn’t a drastic lifestyle change
