Inserting and formatting text
Themes for our storyline PowerPoint Tips from Psych class (you’re lucky!) How many bullets can you have? Difference in Text sizes, Big vs. Small What’s the right size for text? 32 pt absorbtion Each slide is a note for today’s course Priority should be on text at the top Larger is more important Need to be noticeable Show examples by duplicating slides, and making the title way bigger on one 20pt is unreadable by at least someone in the room 36 is absorption Align to Left, line up text
8
Adding bulleted lists Adding bullets
Have them add the font size bullets we just mentioned Managing bullets (making them look different) Make sure that the bullets you’ve chosen tells the right story, i.e. has to do with your topic Numbered vs. Bullets Text alignment and paragraph spacing to group topics and details about those topics No more than 4 bullet points Most things that are sub-bulleted are things that can be said out loud (move to speaker notes)
9
Appropriate Bullets This is a list Of Things About Something
First This Then This And Finally This Finished This Completed This Accomplished This These are silly And have no purpose So let’s avoid them

Overview of the various PowerPoint views
Advantages of the different views Slide Sorter – Copy, Paste and Reorder other people’s PPTs This section was previously at the beginning of the module. Sections – easy to see how many slides are in each portion of your presentation If multiple presenters are using the same deck, and you want to re-arrange presenters, you can easily move a whole section around. Visualize portions of PPT and transitions, segregates like in a movie

Graphic Design with Basic Shapes
Create a Circle that highlights something we need to look at on this slide. Or a box that we need to put on a slide Arrows to point to something Changing angles with the yellow anchors Edit points Put a wide rectangle at the bottom, to create a floor Put shapes behind text that you want to stand out (rectangle that goes all the way across the slide Put in an arrow to point out an item that’s important Let them play
18
Working with Colors Shape Styles Save as Default Shape
Choose No Fill, then set as default shape, then you can make all kinds of outlining shaped Gradients, if time
19
Grouping and ungrouping objects
Draw a picture, and group it together Hand done diagram, group it together like a hand done smart art Then when we talk about smart art, people like it better

22
Inserting & editing pictures from a file
PPT Psych throw-ins People (we empathize with people) No Background Slid part-way off the screen (sparks imagination) Use Google and Bing to find images that are labelled for re-use “creative commons” Never use clip art!!!
