Solving Quadratic Equations by Completing the Square
1) Put the equation in standard form Divide through by any value of other than 1 to arrive to this form. 2) Subtract c from both sides. 3) Add (or the square of half the coefficient of the x-term) to both sides of the equation. 4) Express the perfect square trinomial as the square of a binomial. (This will take the form ). 5) Solve the equation using square roots.
