1 Cloud Storage and Document Management
By Elvita QuiÑones

2 Evolution of technology in the cloud storage case & IT described in Katzenbach.
Similarities Cloud based Software as a Service (SaaS) Web 2.0 capabilities Information Management Systems (IMS) Bring your own device (BYOD) Differences Katzenbach’s system was home grown. The other systems are external systems sold to companies. File management systems (FMS) – small scope vs. Content Management System (CMS) – large scope, more sophisticated. Other systems are more than FMS, how can we use CMS to make better business decisions?

3 Using an EMC system vs. home grown infrastructure
Outsource to focus on key business activities and decision making. Allows the company to focus on our business, not IT business. Focus on Key Business While focusing on our business, we can make better business decisions. By evaluating the EMC system, we can make better business decisions. Better Business Decisions It may be overall more cost effective in the long run. We do not need to hire, train, maintain IT staff, while we free internal resources for other purposes. Cost Effective We gain access to a firm that has knowledge expertise in the EMC area instead of one or two people in home grown application. Expert Knowledge EMC offers a more robust and sophisticated system. The system can grow and develop over time. It will not be static but will evolve with our business needs. Robust Systems Outsourcing to focus on their key business and decision making activities instead of focusing on IT. Enable a company to make better business decisions with their EMC. It may be overall more cost effective (IT employee, server, tech/managerial expertise, EMC offers much more robust and sophisticated systems that allow for further grown and development.

4 Temple University Enterprise tools
Temple University offers a variety of IMS including: Shared drives on local servers, OWLBox (powered by box.com), (FMS.) This is the same as Box listed in our readings. BlackBoard, a learning management system, (LMS.) Google Drive, a file sharing/collaboration system similar to Box and Dropbox. The Fox School of Business’ MIS department also offers the MIS Community Platform, a robust Content Management System (CMS) based of the WordPress platform unique to the MIS department at Temple University. The MIS community platform is the most robust and engaging in my opinion. Sources: Labidi, Cyril, Siegel, Robert, and Burgelman, Robert. 5 How Temple Enterprise Systems look different if WE applied the technologies described in the case?
TU EMC Shared Drives OwlBox Google Drive MIS Community Platform Blackboard Student Info Systems All other related systems Temple Enterprise Systems would easily “talk to each other.” so end users can maximize the information in one shared space. Less division and more cohesiveness of systems. All end users can collaborate in one shared space that would have a record of detailed interactions. (example: a record of communication between professor or financial aid counselor and students for the duration of their studies.)

6 Innovation continues with big key players such as IBM, Microsoft and EMC and smaller disruptive companies. They are playing a dance of IMS which will continue to give us cutting edge IMS. Providers are following the trend of these business demands by creating EMC simple and collaborative spaces. Business want “all-in-one” enterprise management systems to address their unique needs while they will be able to change/develop the systems as needed. Business are concerned about security and privacy of information/data. Business need the cloud to facilitate their business practices. Conclusions
