1. Prompt
As a rocket scientist with NASA, you are part of a team of scientist who are working to land on an asteroid and investigate the surface for mineral resources ($$$!).
The rocket launch and navigation teams are able to get the probe within 1000m of the landing site
Your job is to plan the flight path for landing the spacecraft

2. Task
Create a flight plan so that the spacecraft lands at the appropriate time when the asteroid is properly aligned.
You must provide:
Position-time graph(s) showing the final approach of the spacecraft as it reaches the asteroid – these must be annotated and labeled
A written summary of the flight plan using key terms such as position, distance traveled, and acceleration. Use your syllabus rubric to see what to include.

3. Criteria
The asteroid has only one flat side that can be landed on, and it is slowly rotating. You must time your landing perfectly so that the spacecraft can land on the appropriate side.
The flat side only faces the spacecraft once every 20 seconds, so you must reach the position at the correct time
The flat side faces the spacecraft at 0s, 20s, 40s, …
The spacecraft must reach the asteroid at a speed of less than 2 m/s
You will have to plan for velocity changes

You must plan your flight path from 1000 meters away from the asteroid all the way to the surface of the asteroid (at 0 meters).
