“Early Life” Gurudev was born on May 8,1916 in Ernakulum, India.
Before he became known as Gurudev, he was known as Balakrishnan Menon . He completed his formal schooling at Sree Rama Varma High School , Kochi and Vivekodayam School, Thrissur. He went on to Lucknow University to earn postgraduate degrees in literature and law while attending courses for journalism.

Journalism for a carrier
K. Rama Rao gave Balan (Gurudev) his first job at “The National Herald” (Newspaper). He wrote a series of articles on the importance of socialism in a society where the majority of the people were. Articles such as “In Praise the postman” gave him a reputation as a controversial character. It was while working as a journalist that he wrote an article "exposing" sadhus. To gather information on this topic, he traveled to Shivananda’s ashram in Rishikesh.

Chinmaya Mission Gurudev inspired the formation of Chinmaya Mission in 1953. Gurudev established ashrams around the world for spiritual retreat, study and practice. There are numerous and diverse devotional, spiritual, cultural, and social projects that the Chinmaya Mission continues to do. The Mission has also constructed over 58 temples in India and abroad. He established the Chinmaya International Foundation at the house of Adi Shankara which the foundation bought in the village Veliyanad in Eranakulam District in Kerala.

Conclusion In conclusion, thanks to Gurudev I and other kids have the opportunity to attend Chinmaya Mission and learn all the interesting stories about god. I also get the chance to learn and chant all the shlokas. A special thanks and salute to Gurudev.
