Autonomous Vehicles Metamorphosis: Would India Lose Again!

Abstract Do we really need AVs? Does it offer anything for QA & Testing and can India make it BIG? By next 20 years 1 out of 4 vehicles could be Shared-Self-Driven vehicle. The Vision of Self-driven cars cant be realized without reliable backbone of “Trust” in general public and that trust can come from reliability of QA and Testing carried out This presents a unique opportunity for the Quality Assurance and Quality Control aspect which needs to be explored with a specific focus on “Testing”. Indian IT companies command around 40-50% of the entire Software Testing business which makes India the topmost contender to grab the lions share in AV related Testing. Mr. Kris Gopalakrishnan (Infosys) estimated global software testing business to reach $13 Billion by %testing work will be outsourced to India New business models could expand automotive revenue pool by about 30% or up to $1.5 trillion

Loss of A billion hours a day is not a trivial amount!
AV: Why the Fuss! While driving is considered fun, the facts portray a different story Safety: WHO Global status report on road safety 2015 shows that around 1.2m people are killed every year on roads globally and tens of millions of people are injured or disabled every year Car as office: Time spent in car can be utilized for fun, work or Meetings given the advancement of IoT and Smartphones a car can actually be turned into a super-efficient office space, gaming arcade or even a training room Cost & Reliability of Drivers: While cost is a big constraint, a driver can also be a big pain to manage. Driving related fatigue is also one of the key causes of accidents Stress: Traffic jams, road conditions, frustrating daily commutes, road rage and expensive cost of ownership gets people quite stressed out but there is no choice According to a McKinsey research, commuters worldwide could save a combined 1 billion hours every day once autonomous vehicles go main-stream. Loss of A billion hours a day is not a trivial amount!

The very premise of AVs is ‘Trust’ and most of the people still find it unreliable as well as amusing to believe that vehicles will drive themselves and AVs could actually be a reality QA & Testing is going through a huge transformation to meet the demands of the market in AI, Robotics, Machine Learning, Data Sciences, RPA space which also forms the technology stack for AV Software Worldwide software testing outsourcing market will grow to $50 Billion in 2020 and India to gain BIG - NASSCOM
