HISTORY OF BASKEBALL Introduction:
Some may not know but Massachusetts happened to be the origin of the famous basketball game. The first match was played in December 1891 and up to date many improvements were added on to the game. Did you know the highest rated college basketball match in USA was between the Michigan state and the Indiana state in the NCAA tournament back in the year 1979? ("History Of Basketball. Where Basketball Started,“) Naismith; The P.E instructor who came up with the game

Mode of play A basketball match is composed of 10 players five on each side. The two teams try to score by shooting a ball through a hoop elevated 10 feet above the ground on their opponents side. When a team makes a basket, they score two points and the ball goes to the other team. ("Basketball Basics - The Rules, Concepts, Definitions, and Player Positions,“ 2017) Eye notes Each match is divided into sections and all levels have two halves. In college, each half is twenty minutes long while in the high school matches and below, the halves are divided into eight (and sometimes, six) minute quarters. In the pros, quarters are twelve minutes long. There is a gap of several minutes between halves. Gaps between quarters are relatively short. If the score is tied at the end of regulation, then overtime periods of various lengths are played until a winner emerges.
