1 Deadly fires in CA

2 Fifteen wildfires raged across Northern California, with the biggest ones scorching the state's famous wine country, killing at least 10 people and burning more than 1,500 homes and businesses. And both of those numbers are expected to grow. The fires burned into the night Monday in California's wine country destinations -- Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino counties -- with flames ripping through the lush, picturesque landscape. Wildfires were burning more than 119,032 acres as of Monday night. Authorities have not said what caused the fires but noted dry conditions made it easy for the fires to spread. October is typically the busiest month for wildfires in California. The fires ignited Sunday night and with blazes fueled by strong winds reaching up to 50 mph, firefighters were dealing with extreme rates of spreading and volatile burning conditions.

3 In Other News A Texas Tech University police officer was shot and killed at the campus police station in Lubbock Monday night. The suspect was identified as Hollis Daniels, a 19-year-old freshman. Police say Daniels was apprehended after he fled on foot. The campus was on lockdown after the shooting until the suspect was taken into custody, and the lockdown was lifted. In a statement, the school said the incident began when campus police were sent to check on a student's welfare. "Earlier this evening, Texas Tech Police made a student welfare check," the statement said. "Upon entering the room, officers found evidence of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Officers brought the suspect to the police station for standard debriefing. During this time, the suspect pulled a gun and shot an officer in the head. The officer is deceased.” The official trailer for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" debuted during halftime of the Monday night match up between the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings. Tickets to "Last Jedi" went on sale following the trailer's debut, which opens on December 15. "Last Jedi" is the eighth episode in the "Star Wars" saga and is a direct sequel to the 2015 blockbuster, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” With a population of just 335,000, Iceland became the smallest country ever to qualify for the World Cup after beating Kosovo 2-0 on Monday.
