Aparna S: LATHE MACHINE MACHINE TOOLS LAB MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
B.Tech. III year students JNTUH-GRIET
4
Out-of-class Activity
Learning Objective(s) of Out-of-Class Activity At the end of watching the videos student should be able to Identify the parts of lathe machine Know the function of different parts (Understand Level) Different machine tools Key Concept(s) to be covered Parts of lathe machine Functions of different parts
5
Out-of-class Activity
Lathe parts: (6:46 min) (2:16 min) Machine tools: (4:28 min) Total duration 15 minutes
6
Out-of-class Activity
Aligning Assessment with Learning Objective Learning Objective Assessment Strategy Time Parts of lathe machine Arrange the position( which part rests on which part) of parts (cross slide, compound rest, tool, tool post, carriage, saddle) on lathe. 5 min Functions of different parts How many guideways are there on lathe bed and what is their function( guide which parts). 3 min Various operations on lathe Can drilling operation be performed on lathe? If yes, how it differs from drilling on drilling machine. 10 min
7
Out-of-class Activity
The duration for watching videos is 15 min and for doing assessment questions is 20 min. The total time for out-of-class activity is 35 min. It is equal to almost one class.
8
In-class Activity Learning Objective(s) of In-Class Activity
At the end of the class, students will be able to identify differences between various machine tools understand functions of lathe parts
9
In-class Activity Think-Pair-Share: In our machine tools lab turning operation is performed at 450 rpm and thread cutting operation at 71 rpm. Think: can turning and thread cutting operations can be performed at other rpm s (other than 450 and 71) ( 4min) Pair: discuss answer with your batches and If yes, what changes you notice while performing those operations at other speeds. (6 min)
10
In-class-Activity Share: share your answers with your class and verify your answers whether the changes you found are same and correct or not. (10 min)
11
In-class-Activity Above activity is an active learning strategy as in pair phase students discuss about the changes like surface finish in turning and if as the rpm is changed whether feed is to be changed or not. And in turning with change in rpm why the angle and pitch changes. Students think and discuss actively with their peers.
