TRT DCS X-mas Stop upgrades(1)
Active Gas multimixture operation tools: Configuration widget (wheel or module gas mixture selection) Gas mixture monitoring in HV FSM tree in Gas FSM tree Result: each HVCell has individual Active Gas Mixture signature. TRT Meeting J.O.
4
TRT DCS X-mas Stop upgrades(2)
HV operation parameterization (for different gas mixtures): FSM command defaults GGSS to HV formula parameters Enable GGSStoHV for different mixtures Each 3 minutes GGSStoHV does Cell by Cell calculations (Cell „knows” it’s Region and Gas Mixture): HVsetpoint = HVreference + Alpha (Tregion-Tref) +Offset If (GGSS Min. Volt. < HVsetpoint < GGSS Max. Volt.) Else GGSS Disable TRT Meeting J.O.

LS1 upgrade constraints (1)
Hardware: Standard DCS computer-Dell PowerEdge R610 1:1 replacement, all delivered Interfaces (no more PCI – use USB or Ethernet wherever possible or exceptionally PCIe i/f cards) Ethernet controlled devices – no changes needed CANbus Kvaser(PCI i/f) to be replaced by Systec (2xUSB to 16 CAN ports) 4 pieces ordered (2 to be delivered on 28th February, 2 in summer 2013, common ATLAS DCS order of cables in preparation) 1 piece we already use – no upgrade needed RS BrainBoxes(2xCOM PCI i/f) to be replaced by Perle(2xCOM PCIe i/f) due to latency for USB or Ethernet to COM i/f TRT Meeting J.O.
7
LS1 upgrade constraints (2)
Communication Middleware (firmware s/w) OPC DA servers (Windows only) to be replaced by OPC UA servers (multiplatform) OPC UA is a new standard, commercial versions will be not available in time for LS1, OPC DA upgraded for W7/W2008 are available (Wiener OPC DA for Maratons and VME crates to be used in TRT) CanOpen OPC UA (for ELMB’s, CAN PSU’s, HWI, GGSS) is developed by ATLAS DCS – first version just delivered last days (will be upgraded during next months – basic functionality in place now) HVSys OPC UA (TRT specific) to be developed. TRT Meeting J.O.
8
LS1 upgrade constraints (3)
PVSS 3.8 SP2 to be upgraded to WinCC OA 3.11 SP1 WinCC OA 3.11 available now (SP1 confirmed for March), but… EN/ICE didn’t release Framework for it yet (recompilation and testing needed for SP1) fwAtlas component upgrade is needed than… …to start PVSS Project migration procedure Other Framework components (fwAtlasGas, fwElmb,….) needed for Systems migration Operating System migration from Windows XP to Linux SLC6. Windows 2008 R2 Virtual Machine on systems which needs to run OPC DA servers All SLC6’s and VM’s setting up and managed by Sysadmins/central ATLAS DCS groups Our specific software need to be rpm packaged and follow common software organization rules (modifications/customizations to be negotiated with Central DCS and Sysadmins). TRT Meeting J.O.

SCS Project - Gas System
Running on SCS (already Linux but still 32 bit) and on new computer Upgrade to SLC6 – could happen late No hardware interventions on DCS side Gas system availability – should we expect stoppages of gas delivery for some time ? Affected by EN/ICE plans ? Gas Group plans ? Some interventions planned on (~30 min), 4.03 – not clear yet fwAtlasGas upgrade necessary ? By stoppages of ATLAS Information Services (Feb/March, then September) – access still available directly via gas system project – upgrade IS computer rack (~ how long ?) A question – Does TRT want to add flow regulation in Distribution (h/w in MagField, how to incorporate into component ?) Requires porting to WinCC OA + release of Fw + fwAtlasNNN In principle we can think about it to happen after all gas interventions (so when ??) TRT Meeting J.O.
10
LCS1 Project i.e. Infrastructure
Requires 2 OPC servers WIENER for bulks/Maratons - no Linux version foreseen by firm CANOpen – for CAN power supplies and HWInterlock ELMB’s Possible solutions Baseline: run Windows as VM on Linux box and only remote OPC client with project running on Linux Possible backup: stay with Windows WS2008 SR2/64 bit All others ex. cooling, DSS, etc. can be run on SLC6 Interface to CAN – already used Systec 16 ports (on USB) Test setup: New machine in SR1 WS2008 installed WIENER server for W7/W Systec wrapper installed and tested successfully, both with ELMB’s and PL512 ( MARATON-like!) Waiting for Fw + fwATLAS release Needs project porting to WinCC OA At some moment needs decision on final OS configuration TRT Meeting J.O.
11
PPxx Projects Low Voltage & Temperatures (1)
LV FE Communication with ELMB digital ports - programming of LVPP’s (switching FE voltages on/off, setting voltage levels), 2 approaches: Baseline: direct use of CANopen OPC server – recommended by Central DCS Backup solution (present implementation): a separate shared library, using low level calls and integrated with WinCC OA Ctrl Extension (custom setup): low level calls already tested: Systec Can (v0.4) in SLC6, working OK. If baseline doesn’t work, need to: compile with respect to WinCC 3.11 requirements Prepare RPM package After every upgrade to be controlled by us TRT Meeting J.O.
12
PPxx Projects Low Voltage & Temperatures (2)
LV FE - direct use of CANopen OPC server (baseline) Tests with DA CANopenOPC server and PVSS 3.8 (old setup) performed in the SR1 in December 2012, conclusions: communication with ELMB Digital ports OK when rate of monitoring analogue values is low. If faster – errors. Tests with UA CANopenOPC server in the Linux SLC6 – started this week. Possible TRT-dedicated modifications of the server based on our requests. Need adequate version of the ELMB framework, also with possible modifications triggered by us. Custom TRT LVPP Framework modification. Support and collaboration from Central DCS promised. Tests are being done in the SR1 TRT test bed: Linux SLC6 PC with Systec Side A of the Barrel Detector (3 LVPPs + 2 TTCs) TRT Meeting J.O.
13
HV Projects – High Voltage
TRT specific Crates Performance is main concern: SPEED2 LE Express - 2 Port PCIe Serial Card – drivers for Windows and Linux installed in SR1, RS-232 communication works for both systems. Communication protocol upgrades for data transfer agregation (by HVSys expert) done. Speed-up Baud Rate can be difficult. TRT specific OPC DA server Developed in 2005 with commercial Softing SDK Toolkit No easy way to upgrade DA server – new Softing License needed for each significant upgrade (now and in the future) One-step upgrade to UA is more efficient solution, but… Softing UA Toolkit not ready yet as a stable standard implementation EN/ICE supports United Automation Toolkit (long term contract) ATLAS CanOpen UA OPC server developed with Unified Automation – ATLAS central DCS group promised support and common framework solutions (XML configuration parsing tools, common libraries for threading, events, synchronization), but it’s still not stable. Starting development of simple OPC UA version with Unified Architecture Toolkit in SR1 test setup now. TRT specific Framework (OPC UA Client configuration) and Technical Panels to be modified (RS-232 protocol changes) TRT Meeting J.O.
