2. Why is Yosemite a national park
Yosemite was declared a national park in An act of congress made Yosemite the third national park. Two men named Muir and Johnson lobbied congress until it was declared a national park on October 1st, 1890.The reason Muir and Johnson wanted Yosemite to become a national park was because of all of its natural wonders like Half Dome and all its stunning waterfalls.

This is a topographic map of Yosemite National Park. It shows the elevation of the land. Yosemite’s highest elevation is at Mount Lyell which is 13,114 feet tall (or 3,997 meters) tall.
