3. Avant-Garde vs. Post-Modernism
Post-modernism – late 20th century art, architecture, criticism movement.
Beliefs:
The world is in a perpetual state of incompleteness and unresolve.
Pluralism: there are many ways of knowing and many truths to one fact.
Avant-Garde – term used to describe a movement in art, literature, film, architecture, photography, fashion, etc. to describe a group of artists who are forward thinking for their time.
Forward thinking or interpreting in a way that embraces or rejects a thought or opinion.
ALL movements have a manifesto of sorts.

early twentieth-century modern artists whose works emphasized painterly qualities and strong colors versus realistic values as in Impressionism.

6. Constructivists took an artistic outlook which aimed to include cognitive, material activity, and the whole of spirituality of mankind. The artists tried to create art that would take the viewer out of the traditional setting and make them an active viewer of the artwork.

11. Avant-Garde Make-Up
Avant-Garde in fashion or make-up is meant to spark a reaction or provoke thought.
The artist interprets something in a way that may cause observers to question their original belief of the topic or adopt a another truth about this topic.
Make-up and clothing is not meant to be wearable. It is a work of art, not street clothing.
Ask yourself, how do I see this? What is my opinion? What do I want others to think about this that they currently do not?
