1 Biblical Foundation of Marriage Pt. 3
God’s Intentions for Sex

2 Mark 10:6-7 6 But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. 7 For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother,

3 Mark 10:8-9 9 and the two shall become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.

4 Nearly half of all first marriages will end in divorce.

5 Over the last 30 years, the number of cohabitating couples nearly quadrupled.

6 Over the past 40 years, the number of independent female households in the U.S. grew by 65%, and the number of independent male households leapt 120%.

7 Fewer than half of all American households today are made up of married couples.

8 God’s intention for sex is to be within the bonds of marriage only (period)
(1 Corinthians 7:1).

9 a. Our bodies are to bring glory to God by fleeing from sex outside of marriage.

10 Flee from sexual immorality
Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

11 b. There is a spiritual war at hand against immorality including; premarital sex, co-habitation, homosexuality, and pornography!

12 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. 1 Peter 2:11

13 c. Eternal separation from God is unavoidable for the unrepentant sexual sin.

14 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Ephesians 5:5

15 - God designed sex to be relational, and selfless.
- God designed sex to be fruitful. - God designed sex to be intimate. - God designed sex as a complex union.

16 - How is our sex life, or abstaining form sexual sin glorifying God?
- What must we rid ourselves of in order to pursue holiness?!
