2. Who was Jo Cox? What happened to Jo Cox, Labour MP on 16th June 2016?
Jo Cox, the British Labour Party Member of Parliament for Batley and Spen, died after being shot and stabbed multiple times outside her office. She was only 42 years old and left behind a husband and two young children.
Why did this happen?
Cox was singled out for attack as a "passionate defender" of the European Union and immigration. Her murderer, Mair viewed the Labour MP as "one of 'the collaborators' [and] a traitor" to white people. He has subsequently been jailed for life.
In remembrance of Jo’s death people are running a campaign called The Great Get Together.
