3. Team Building Activities:
On the next few slides are listed 8 or so activities. Each in include materials list( if any), and directions.
Select the ones that you would like to do with your class.

4. #1 – PARK BENCH Materials: Two chairs “News” story Instructions:
Place two chairs together to resemble a park bench.
Two students volunteer—or are selected—to act out “what happened” in a fictional news story. They are given one minute to prepare a scene where they discuss the “event” without every actually saying what happened.
After a given time period (1-5 minutes), peers guess “what happened,” but they must give up all four important details: Who, What, Where, and When, e.g.:

5. #2 – Inside Circle, Outside Circle
Materials: none
Directions:
Students form a circle within a circle with (ideally) equal number of students in both circles. Inside circle members pair with outside circle members.
Present a topic, prompt, or question.
Partners share for 10 seconds (or less).
Ask inside circle to move clockwise a certain number of spaces to collaborate with new partners directly across from them and share with new partner.
Repeat several times; or use new prompt.

6. #3 – Count to Ten or LAST 9 STANDING
Materials: None
Directions:
All students stand in circle.
First student says “1,” or “1,2.”
The next student picks up where that student left off, and can say a maximum number of 2 numbers.( ex3, or 3-4)
The movement continues clockwise until it gets to 10.
Student #10 has to sit, and the game starts back over at 1 at the next student.
WINNERS = the last people numbered 1-9
Note that there can be no pausing or silent counting— any pauses or indications the student is counting/calculating forces them to sit.

7. #4 – Blind Retreiver Materials: One blindfold per team
Objects to retrieve (book, ball, water bottle, etc)
Group size (split class into several smaller groups)
Directions:
In this fun and challenging blindfold activity, groups are split into smaller sub-teams and must compete against each other to try and retrieve an object.
One person is blindfolded in each team and directed by team mates to try and find the object before the other team do.

8. #5 – Collaborative Drawing
Materials:
One sheet of paper for all participants
Writing utensils for everyone
A timer or stopwatch
Procedures:
Distribute paper and writing utensils to everyone that will be playing.
Make sure that the players are sitting in a straight lines.
Instruct each person to fold their paper into four equal sections, as you would fold a letter. They should then unfold the paper so that it is flat again.
Players are then told to draw a head for their drawing in the uppermost section. It doesn’t matter what kind of head they draw or where on the upper section it is, as long as the neck connects to the top of the second section on the paper.
Instruct players to fold their paper over in order to hide the head they drew, leaving only the very bottom of the neck showing to help the next player in their drawing.
All players pass their folded papers to their left and accept the paper being handed from their right side. Each time a new paper is given to each player, they must draw the missing section, connecting it to the other person’s previous section without actually looking to see what it looks like.
This process will be repeated for all three of the other remaining sections: torso, legs, and feet.
Make sure that all the players know to leave the very bottom of their drawing visible so that the next person can continue on.
Each section should be timed to avoid spending too long on this game.
Once the drawings are all completed, open up the papers and check out the crazy creatures or people that are featured there!

9. #6 – Lost on a Desert Isle. Materials: none Directions:
“The situation is dire — following a shipwreck, everyone has been stranded on a deserted island! Each person is allowed to bring one object to the island — ideally something that represents them or something that they enjoy.”
Describe what object you would bring and why. (This need not be realistic; if someone loves music, he or she might choose to bring a guitar, or an animal lover might choose to bring a dog, a food lover might choose to bring sirloin steaks, and so on. Be creative.
After everyone has introduced their object and why they have chosen that object, the teambuilding portion follows.
Divide into smaller groups and ask everyone to work together to improve their chances of survival by combining the various objects that they introduced. If necessary, you can add more objects, but be sure to use all the objects that everyone mentioned.
If you wish, you can reward the most creative group with a prize.

10. #7 – Celebrate Uniqueness
Materials:
Poster Paper
Markers
Directions:
Students get into groups and compile the commonalities and differences that characterize their group members.
Create a poster that represents their group makeup.
After all of the groups finish their posters, the teacher leads to a whole class discussion about how the unique talents and interests of students create a richer learning environment.

11. #8 – Shoe Mingle Game Materials: Students Shoes Directions:
Everyone takes off one shoe and throws it into a big shoe pile.
Everyone randomly grabs a shoe.
Go around the room, introducing yourself and talking to many people and trying to find the person whose shoe you are holding.

12. #9 – Pass the Hula Hoop Materials: 2 Hula hoops (ask science)
Directions:
Divide group into 2 groups
Form a line and hold hands
At the start signal begin to pass the hula hoop down the line - the line may NOT release hands.
First line with hula hoop to the end  WINNER
