Question: Can you list one example of the interactions that happened between these three (Teacher-Content-Learner) in a normal classroom? Ans: a. Teacher Content : Faculty is preparing for new topic/concept etc by some new course books, some videos, PPTs and research papers. b. Teacher-Learner: Teacher then deliver lecture in classroom to explain this new topic after that learner asks question and teacher gave answers. c. Question: What is the equivalent of such a video in a regular teaching-learning interaction within your classroom? Ans: Regular teaching learning interaction in classroom is like teacher going in classroom and deliver the lecture to learner and learner made their course journal if required and then ask questions to teacher. Question: What additional features does the video provide you apart from the regular information transmission of the content? Ans: In this video learner can play, pause, stop video as per his/her will. Ans: The cognitive theory of multimedia learning presents principles to guide designers of multimedia and e-learning in the presentation of textual, graphical, video and audio information for optimal learning. Question: Multimedia Principle Ans: The Multimedia principle is a theory studied in depth by Richard Mayer that states words and graphics are more conducive to learning, rather than just text or graphics alone.  The theory is based on the idea that learners learn better when they engage in relevant cognitive pressing such as attending to the relevant material in the lesson, mentally organizing the material into a coherent cognitive representation and mentally integrating the material with their existing knowledge.(Mayer 154) His study also shows that learners may engage in less in-depth learning with just text alone, not connecting what they have read with new or prior knowledge. Question: Multimedia Principle Ans: Studies have shown that their are two main channels that we use to process information, the auditory and visual channel.  The auditory channel processes sounds that we hear while the visual channel processes things that we see.  By combining these two process studies have shown that learners, learning will be more in depth and stay in the learners memory longer.  Their studies have also shown that to many visuals or to much text can overload the learner so their needs to be a balance between the two and they should always relate so they do not confuse the learners learning process.  Creative Commons License

Question: Contiguity Principle Ans: Align words to corresponding graphics Simply stated, the contiguity principle is "align words to corresponding graphics" (Clark & Mayer, 2011). This means that a graphic that is the major subject of text should not be physically separated from the text. The contiguity principle as stated implies that just words need to be aligned, however audio should also be aligned temporally with graphics that correspond with the audio. One example is that when a graphic includes a diagram which has parts indicated by text, the text should be physically near the corresponding parts of the diagram (Clark & Mayer, 2011).  Creative Commons License

Question: Modality Principle Ans: Generally speaking, the modality principle is “present words as speech rather than on-screen text (Clark & Mayer, 2011)”. Learners will learn better when new information is explained by audio narration than on-screen text, especially when the graphic is complex, the words is familiar, and the lesson is fast-paced. It’s important to note that the modality principle is strongest when the material is complex for the learner (Tindall-Ford, Chandler, &Sweller, 1997) and when the pace is fast and not under learner control (Tabbers, Martens, &van Merrienboer, 2004). Question: Redundancy Principle Ans: We can see many multimedia-learning scenarios have simultaneous text and audio in our lives. The redundancy principle states that learners can learn better just with animation and narration. The visual text information, which is presented simultaneously to the verbal information, becomes a redundant material. Eliminating redundant material, avoiding narration and "identical" text will be a good way to let learners learn well. The basic reason is people can't focus when they both hear and see the same verbal message during a presentation (Hoffman, 2006). Creative Commons License

Question: Segmenting Principle Ans: Segmenting is a very simple principle as the only thing to it is that you are breaking down the large segments into smaller segments. The detailed term that is commonly used with the segmenting of information is breaking everything down into bite-size segments. Question: S Pre-training Principle Ans: Ensure that Learners Know the Name and Characteristics of Key Concepts Generally speaking, the pretraining principle is the users "know the name and characteristics of Key concepts "(Ruth Colvin Clark, Richard E. Mayer,e-learning and the Science of instruction,P212) before they learn something . "The pretraining principle is relevant in situations when trying to process the essential material in the lesson would overwhelm the learner’s cognitive system. In these situations involving complex material, it is helpful if some of the processing can be done in advance"(Ruth Colvin Clark, Richard E. Mayer,e-learning and the Science of instruction,P214).
