Why Global Outreach When There is Need in the U.S.?
St. Patrick’s engages in multiple outreach projects locally; Daniel Wright School, Habitat for Humanity, Franklin County, our Youth Missions and more The Diocese of Southern Ohio supports outreach missions in the United States including a strong Appalachian Mission and a Mission to the Southwest US in Navajoland to name two We live in a global community and thus we have obligations to our sisters and brothers beyond our shores We have a scriptural knowledge that God’s wish for us is health and well being

How Did Lissa Pick These Three?
These are the ones in which I felt called to participate The locations of these outreach ministries are places where most outreach groups don’t go The needs of the population are ones to which I can respond in a productive manner These ministries are sustainable There are multifocal areas for the ministry to engage

Honduras The location in Honduras is remote yet well populated
Not many outreach missions target this part of Honduras Choluteca is the site of a sustainable health ministry There is the reality of an evolving focus for the ministry
7
The Evolution of the Honduras Mission
Began as a way of identifying the health needs of the remote rural population in that part of Honduras We began to bring Nurse Practitioner Students and Senior undergraduate nursing students to do primary care clinics This outreach morphed into the development of a school of nursing
8
The School of Nursing First (and only) program of its type in Honduras
Located in the vocational school Provides the equivalent of an associate degree in nursing and preparation for the bachelor’s degree Approved by the Ministry of Education
9
How Do We Support This Ministry
Prayerful Support Lissa continues to write curriculum content that is the translated into Spanish Monetary support for scholarships for the students - $1400 a year per student, so a portion of this would be wonderful We have reports from the students whom we supported this year

Jamaica Mission Jamaica has a notional health system
The money starts in the capitol and then is distributed among the Parishes The resort areas are funded most fully The rural areas get less support Access to health services is poor in the rural areas
