BuckeyePass BuckeyePass can be used in a number of ways: Duo Mobile on a smartphone or tablet – Installing Duo Mobile on your device will give you two ways to authenticate. When you try to log in to a system protected by BuckeyePass, it will push an authentication request to the Duo Mobile application on your device. Once you approve the request, you will be admitted to the system. You may also generate a code from Duo Mobile and input it to the BuckeyePass login page. Passcodes via text – You will receive 10 passcodes via a single text message. One passcode will be used each time you log in to the system. You will need to request a subsequent text after all 10 passcodes are used. Callback via phone – Duo will generate an automated phone call to approve your access to the system. Authentication service that provides a second layer of security to your Ohio State account. When registering for BuckeyePass service, do so from a laptop or desktop computer Authentication service to protect your Ohio State Account BuckeyePass is three things: Secure – prevents others from accessing account Easy – Quick and easy to log in with a tap of a button Convenient – use from any location with any mobile application Required to access various OSU Systems such as Employee Self Service, Splunk, and others Duo Mobile on smartphone or table is the most popular for BuckeyePass but passcodes and callback are fine as well

Employee Self Service (ESS)
Online secured portal for accessing important employee data, such as paychecks and benefits enrollment Access ESS one day after effective start date Main components Maintain Personal Data Direct Deposit W4 Taxing information View Paystub W2 Express eBenefits (for benefits eligible positions Time and Leave Training - BuckeyeLearn READ Slide Log in by using your name.# and password Once at the homepage, you click on the icon you wish to access and follow instructions on the screen ESS is available to you while you are actively in the HR System and 60 days after from your termination date Next few slides will explain the icons that are most important and should be completed within a few days after your start date

ESS – W4 Tax information All employees are required to complete a W-4 when hired. Ability to make changes due to life events (i.e. marriage, divorce, birth of child) Submit or change your W4 tax withholding for federal and state tax as well as local and school district Withholdings is the amount of taxes taken from paycheck Foreign Nationals (i.e. nonresident alien) will use a web-based program called Glacier Additional notes: The Tax Office does not provide tax advising or consultation services. We recommend you contact your tax advisor if you are not sure of your exemptions/withholding amounts For nonresident aliens, you will receive an to your name.# with information regarding Glacier with a password for entry Any general questions or questions about Glacier can be directed to

ESS – Direct Deposit University’s preferred method for paying employees Set up or change direct deposit accounts Establish one account or spread pay over multiple accounts by dollar amount or percent of pay Access to Direct Deposit is one day after your effective start date of your appointment Rehires, need to re-establish direct deposit if break in service is greater than 60 days. Preferred method for paying employees as it is: Safe = pay is automatically deposited into your account on pay day – no worries about lost or stolen checks Fast = check is instantly deposited into your account (or accounts) and available on pay day Simple = pay is direct deposited into your accounts on time, correctly, and confidentially Able to enroll, change, cancel direct deposit – notification sent to your name.# regarding any changes to your account. Changes to account usually takes 1-2 pay periods depending on when request was made REMINDER – Rehires with a break in service greater than 60 days will need to re-establish their direct deposit While direct deposit is the preferred method for individuals to receive their pay, a paper check can be received each pay period which is mailed to home address
