2 The Need: CSS HR uses various logs to track LOA, work restrictions, work accommodations and employee relation issues. Have a centralized location with information that could be used by all HR staff. Uniform tracking mechanism for auditing and statistical purposes. Currently CSS HR has various logs that track information such as leave of absences, work restrictions or employee relation issues. HR needs a system that centralizes this information in one system so if the Employee Relations manager wants more information on an employee she can go to one central program and see what is going on with this employee. Is the employee certified for intermittent FMLA? Does the employee currently have work restrictions? If so, was there an interactive process meeting? Currently, the Employee Relations manager would have to go to one log, verify that the employee has been approved for intermittent FMLA leave, then check another log to verify if the employee has any work restrictions. If there are work restrictions, ask the Return to Work coordinator if there has been an interactive process meeting before she decides how to proceed with disciplining due to the employee not coming in to work.

4 The Team’s Goals: CSS HR is always trying to increase efficiencies. In collaboration with CSS IT, it created a system that will: Allow the HR team to have an efficient and uniform way of managing the different HR functions. Streamline the team’s functions. Eliminate redundancy. Provide access to collecting statistical data. CSS HR is always trying to increase efficiencies. 5 Most recently IT completed the design and programming of the LOA screen. Records staff have completed the testing phase of the LOA screen. The next screen to be released for testing, Workers’ Compensation screen. The program should be completed by June 2011. IT recently completed the design and programming of the LOA screen. It is being tested by the HR team. The whole system should be complete by June It was designed keeping in mind that the system could possibly used by other HR departments within the County.
