Poster # 1418 DENTAL SERVICE DEMAND IN MATERNITY HOSPITAL ASSOCIATED WITH NEWBORN PATHOLOGY PODESTÁ, K.*(1), CHÁVEZ, BA. (1) , MUR, M(1) ., ALVARADO,C(1)., SANTILLÁN, M(1) ., BERRÍOS, P. (1) , RÍOS, J(1) Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal. Lima, PERÚ 1. Introduction 2. Objective Scientific advances in pediatric medicine have resulted in the reduction of perinatal and infant mortality. However, high-risk newborns need monitoring and multidisciplinary treatment since the decrease in mortality leads to a significant increase in morbidity. The most common oral pathologies in high-risk newborns are developmental defects of enamel and dentine, differences in dental eruption timeline, tooth decay and cleft palate. To evaluate the association between oral pathology diagnosed at birth and time of demand to dental service at Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal de Lima, Peru (INMP) 3. Method Poisson regression model with robust variance CROSS-SECTIONAL DESIGN 104 infants born in INMP Dental Service April April 2014 Lima , Peru Statistical analysis Favorable (before the first month of life) Unfavorable (after first month of life) TIME TO GO TO DENTAL SERVICE LESS COMPLEX (teeth and soft tissues) DENTAL DIAGNOSIS AGE OF THE MOTHER GESTATION TIME BIRTH WEIGHT INFANT GENDER COVARIATES COMPLEX (palate clefts) RESPONSE VARIABLE 4. Results 5. Conclusion Table 1: Birth weight and complexity of diagnosis associated with demand to dental service at hospital center Low birth weight and complexity of oral diagnosis of the infant may be considered factors that encouraged demand for dental service VARIABLES Adjusted PR (95% CI) p value* BIRTH WEIGHT Normal ( ≥ 2500 g ) 1 Low ( ≤2500 g ) 0.087 ( ) 0.001 DIAGNOSIS COMPLEXITY Less complex More complex (1.535 – ) 0.011 Support Funding Agency Poisson regression model adjusted for birth weight and complexity of diagnosis p<0.05 REFERENCES Saavedra-Marbán G, Planells del Pozo P, Ruiz-Extremera A.
