Adapted from the manual.
2
Social Capital Social capital is “the collective value of all social networks (who people know) and the inclinations that arise from these networks to do things for each other (‘norms of reciprocity’). The central premise of social capital is that social networks have value” (BetterTogether initiative, [s.a.]). When using online media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram or even LinkedIn, we are infect building our social capital which includes building social skills and characteristics such as online communication and trust. When there is no digital access, we are creating a divide that is going to affect our personal growth gained from using the internet and other online mechanisms thus inhibiting the effect to how we would interact with people in the physical world.
3
Knowledge Capital Knowledge capital is the intangible asset that represents valuable ideas, methods, processes and other intuitive talents. In its simplest terms, the knowledge capital of an individual is the experience and interactions learned over time. Without digital access, people would not be able to evolve and learn new things and this would harm the research and development sectors of society, halting how the human races progresses into the future.
4
Human Capital Human capital is the skills, knowledge, and experience possessed by an individual or population, viewed in terms of their value or cost to an organization or country. In today’s modern work environment, all if not most individuals gain some kind of skill or knowledge from the internet, even if it is something as basic as learning how to change a tire. Without digital access, people would not be able to improve their physical wellbeing because the most important aspect about human capital is that it is the building blocks needed to applying and getting a good job.
