1 Ten Spiritual Truths About Understanding God’s Will
or, “How do I know what God wants me to do?” © 2007 Ron Williams

2 Number 1: God’s will always revolves around Him being glorified
1 Corinthians 2:9. The kingdom ultimately benefits John 13:31. Attention focuses upon God (not man)

3 Number 2: God’s will never involves us being sinful
Colossians 2:18. Sin never glorifies God, even if we think it benefits the Kingdom.

4 Number 3: God’s will does involve us seeking His guidance
Numbers 9:23. Pray for guidance Proverbs 2:6. Pray for wisdom Psalm 28:7. Pray for strength

5 Number 4: God expects us to act, not necessarily understand His actions
Matthew 26:41. Accepting His will may go directly against our reasoning Isaiah 55: We cannot fully understand His ways

6 Number 5: Following His will might result in many different consequences, including those we might consider negative Acts 9: It might be against our nature Acts 21: It might result in loss of freedom or station

7 Number 6: There are spiritual benefits. Timing is a different issue
Mark 14:3; Mark 14:9. It might be immediate glorification of God Matthew 1:20-21; 1:24. It might be later

8 Number 7:Waiting for Him to indicate His will may be required-and it might be difficult
Psalm 79:8. Our need may be immediate Romans 8:26. We may not even know what to pray for

9 Number 8: Our will is constantly at battle with His will
1 Peter 4:12. No one wants to suffer Isaiah 53:6. We cannot see the big picture

10 Number 9 :Peace of mind and spirit will occur if we are fully in His will
Psalm 112:8. We can accept any consequence if we are secure Matthew 21:21. Seeing Him move gives us deeper faith to trust His will next time

11 Number 10: We are to use our intellect-but only to a point
Colossians 3:2. Being in His will does not mean giving up your intellect 1 Peter 1:13. However, once he says “go!”, stop analyzing things and simply do.
