3 1 million homes “Housing minister Brandon Lewis said the government aimed to see one million new homes over this Parliament.” BBC News, 21 September Greg Clark “I want to see a million homes built during in the next five years, and then I want more.” Speech to NHF, 24 September “Today, the Prime Minister is making crystal clear that he expects all councils to create and deliver local plans – making sure they take action to help reach the government’s ambition of delivering 1 million homes by 2020.” No10 Press Notice 12 October, on Launch of H&P Bill.

4 The Spending Review We secured around £22bn. £8bn to deliver over 400,000 affordable starts. £12bn of housing investment to support delivery. The March Budget £100 million to deliver low cost accommodation for those moving on from homelessness, and £15m to prevent and reduce rough sleeping. Launched our Starter Homes and Help to Buy Shared Ownership prospectus. Announced planning reforms to move towards zonal and ‘red line’ planning, and to streamline the planning system.

5 Housing and Planning Act
The legislation has three central aims – each one interlinked. “A Greater Britain must mean more families having the security and stability of owning a home of their own. My government will do everything it can to help people buy a place of their own – at the heart of this is our ambition to build 1 million new homes by 2020” – David Cameron “We’re determined that, both in Whitehall and in town halls, everything is done to get the homes we need built.” – Brandon Lewis “We are determined to crack down on rogue landlords who exploit vulnerable people” – Greg Clark help more people buy their own homes keep the country building, and speed up delivery ensures the way we manage housing is fair and fit for the future

Support the Government’s ambition to deliver one million new homes, whilst protecting those areas that we value most including the Green Belt. Deliver the homes and infrastructure that this country needs. Transform the way we plan for major infrastructure projects
