1 6th Grade Parent Night Corbett Junior High will provide a safe and positive learning environment through teamwork and relationship building. Our goal is to challenge and motivate life-long learners to become responsible citizens.

3 A Day in the Life of a Corbett 7th Grader
School hours: 8:10 – 3:20 7 classes plus lunch/Mustang Pride (each class is approximately 50 minutes) 4 core classes (Regular or Pre-AP) PE or Athletics Skills for Success Elective or STAAR classes w/Core TEAMs

4 PE vs. Athletics Boys Athletics – students must play football to be in athletics No tryouts for football Girls Athletics – students must tryout for volleyball or basketball Students in Athletics MUST have a SCUC ISD Physical on file with Corbett coaches PE – students dress out and work out, but requirements are not as rigorous as Athletics Students do not have to be in Athletics to tryout for a sport Exception is football (must be in athletics to play) Uniforms Required – available during Prep Days in August

5 Sports Available for Junior High Students
Volleyball (fall) – tryouts begin first day of school Football (fall) Cross-Country (fall) Basketball (winter) Soccer (winter) Track (spring) Tennis (spring) Physicals must be complete and on file with Corbett Coaches to be eligible to try-out for any sport.

8 Next Steps Turn in course selections to home campus ASAP
Students entering their selections on TxMyZone (This will be completed at their current campus.) UPDATE IMMUNIZATIONS – *Required prior to entry in 7th grade (Submit updated vaccination records to school nurse) Submit required registration paperwork in August Attend Prep Days in August Schedules, Lockers (optional), campus tours SHannon

9 School Health Info All students entering 7th grade will be required to have: 1 dose of Tdap (if at least five years have passed since receiving the last dose of a tetanus-containing vaccine) 2 doses of Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, unless they had the disease 1 dose of Meningococcal vaccine 2 Hep A 2 MMR. In order to ensure your child meets the immunization requirements for 7th grade entrance, and to enable you to beat the summer rush and major shortages of vaccine that often occur in late summer, we are advising you to schedule the vaccinations early. Please send a copy of your child’s vaccination record to the school nurse once the vaccinations are completed. Please keep in mind that all immunizations must be completed and proof of immunizations received by the school nurse in order for your child to obtain their 7th grade schedule and start school. REMEMBER NO SHOTS, NO SCHOOL, NO EXCEPTIONS. Contact your child’s school nurse with any questions you may have. If your child has already received these vaccinations, please verify with your child’s current school nurse to ensure our records are up to date.
