Overview of Letters of Intent and Pre-applications
2 applications met the minimum “Competitive” requirements (MSY and Cost per MSY) NyE Communities Coalition Partners of Prevention AmeriCorps Program did not participate in the pre- application process as it is a continuation grant application and does not need to be ranked. Great Basin Institute’s Nevada Conservation Corps is a re-compete AmeriCorps Program, and meets all competitive funding requirements. 4 Letters of Intent received for consideration of Continuation Formula Funding Nevada Outdoor School AmeriCorps Program Nevada Statewide Coalition Partnership AmeriCorps Program (NyE Communities Coalition) Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation Student Stewards AmeriCorps Program City of Las Vegas ReInvent Schools AmeriCorps Program 2 Pre-applications received for Consideration of New Formula Funding University of Nevada, Las Vegas Nonprofit Community and Leadership Initiative – Planning Grant Walker Basin Conservancy – Operational Grant Deadline extended to January 9, 2018, for formula planning and operational grant applications only. The peer review committee discussion only on those grants that are eligible for consideration of national competitive funding as the formula funding process has been extended.

Grants considered for Competitive Funding
Re-compete Grant Application Great Basin Institute/Nevada Conservation Corps - A “re-compete” grant funded competitively since grant year The Great Basin Institute proposes to have 175 AmeriCorps members who will perform environmental stewardship, natural resource monitoring, evaluation, and public outreach, while engaging in workforce development throughout the state. AmeriCorps members will be responsible for reducing the threat of catastrophic wild fire, improving at-risk ecosystems, enhancing scientific understanding of species conservation, and promote adaptive management practices. In addition, AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 100 volunteers who will be engaged in restoration efforts and public outreach initiatives. This program will focus on the CNCS focus area of environmental stewardship. Continuation Competitive Grant Application Nevada Statewide Coalition Partnership/NyE Communities Coalition - Using the intermediary program model 22 AmeriCorps members representing 18.5 MSY will address prescription drug and opioid abuse in nine counties including Nye, Lincoln, Esmeralda, Elko, White Pine, Eureka, Carson City, Las Vegas, and Reno. AmeriCorps members are responsible for providing community-based instruction and education around opioids and Rx drugs as well as referral to services.

Commission Action Items
Approve Peer Review Committee Recommendations: Rank Great Basin Institute’s Nevada Conservation Corps as the #1 final ranking grant application and direct Nevada Volunteers’ staff to submit Great Basin Institute’s Nevada Conservation Corps re-compete fixed price grant application to CNCS for consideration of competitive funding. Direct Nevada Volunteers’ staff to work with veterans’ nonprofit organizations to transfer funding previously awarded to the Nevada Department of Veterans Services for a planning or an operational grant. Direct Nevada Volunteers’ staff to extend the deadline for the NOFO or reopen the NOFO and work with applicant organizations as needed to fully expend Nevada’s formula allocation for grant year
