Summer Term Class K Miss Rajchel and Mr Walker Science Our Science topic this half term is ‘Animals Including Humans’ where children will be learning about the composition and functions of the blood and heart, how our circulatory system works and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle in terms of diet and exercise and the impact of drugs and alcohol on the body. Cross Curricular Pupils will be given opportunities to explore and investigate the work of Vincent Van Gogh. They will consider his influences and find out how his style developed over time. Pupils will write about his life and explore his artwork in depth. They will develop and refine a range of artistic techniques creating individual and large scale group artwork across the term. Celebrate! Computing French Children will be going back to basics and recapping on greetings, how to introduce themselves, how to describe their family, animals, time and weather – and more! .Computing This half term, the children will be recapping on online safety – and learning how to make their own website! P.E. This half term pupils will focus on developing their technical understanding of athletic activity. They learn how to set targets and improve their performance in a range of running, jumping and throwing activities. As in all athletic activities, pupils will think about how to achieve the greatest speed, height, distance or accuracy. Homework Homework is given out on Tuesdays and is expected back in on the following Monday. Children are expected to spend an hour on homework, taking care with presentation. We ask that parents write a comment letting us know how their child found the task. Home Reading To ensure that your child makes great progress in reading, we ask that they read at home every day. We will be sending home book bags from next week and children will have a reading record which they will need to get signed by an adult to record the reading they have done. If you have any questions on how to support your child with their reading, please speak to your child’s class teacher. PSHE Pupils will be learning about physical and emotional change which will allow them to grow in confidence with their bodies and relationships.
