1 REPRODUCTION OF THE MANTIS

2 What are mantis? Mantis are insects. They have six legs and two “hands”, their body is long and some times they can be big. They are usually colour green as the leaves which they live.

3 Is it external or internal?
The mantis has a internal reproduccion. This means that every thing happens inside of the females abdomen.

4 How do they reproduce themselves?
Very little species have such a dangerous reproduction as the mantis. It is very dangerous for the male because after mating the female usually eats the males head.

5 The mantis is a very lonely insect, they only join themselves once a year for breeding. For that to happen the male has to dance to the female for her to accept him and don’t kill him. But during or after mating the female usually tears the males head thincking it is a bridal.

6 How many eggs does she lay?
She lays between 100 and 300 eggs in a white foam called ooteca, on top of a leaf or a branche. The eggs hatch at the begginigs of spring.
