L-104 New Student Group Counseling Advisement Prerequisite Office Counseling Starts Here Counseling Sign Prerequisite Sign Foot print stickers on floor Signage changes in 4 locations (advisor computers-sign that reads “counseling start here”, advisement changes to “prerequisite office, front counter no longer counseling services but L104 and “Express Counseling” signage at 3 computers New student orientation students will stand in regular line to get an appointment and do not need to check in at the computer New signage New Signage

(Students check-in at one of these computers) Prerequisite Office Sign-in at computer Have a seat & wait Assisted by Advisor Counseling Sign-in at computer Have a seat & wait Assist by Counselor May lead to follow-up appointment (give student yellow appointment slip to give to front counter staff) STUDENTS WILL NO LONGER STAND IN LINE!! Make follow-up appointments (ONLY with yellow referral slips) Check in students for their follow-up appointment Make appointment for new student orientation Answer phones Advisors Clear prerequisites Answer phones when front staff is unable Appointments will be given out at 8am Schedule for M-F Two advisors and 3 advisors for peak periods Solution for counselor coverage: can start prep at 7:30am, adjuncts and last option rotation; Cynthia said no overload for morning Use your professional judgment in express counseling; long line, no grad petition but show student where to do on-line to submit petition, RCL assess situation might need 30 min appt. if personal and student becomes emotional, 1 semester plan instead of 2 sem. Plan, no more than 10 minutes if long line, if student is being referred for ed plan be sure student is aware to take placement tests, if needed and bring unofficial transcript to complete application, undecided students refer to career center first before meeting with a counselor changes changes

Drop-in Counseling Coverage
