1 Solving One-Step Inequalities
SWBAT solve one step inequalities and graph them on a number line.

2 Warm Up Graph the following inequality on a number line: x > 9
Write an inequality that matches the graph. In order to reserve a room at the bowling alley, Lindsey must have at least 10 people. Write an inequality to model the situation and then graph it.

3 Review: Graphing Inequalities
What type of circle do we use for > or < ? Why? What direction does the arrow go for > or > ? What about for less than or less than or equal to?

4 Limitations When do we use limitations? How do we graph a limitation?

5 Solving One-Step Inequalities
Good news! It’s the same thing as solving an equation  Ex: x + 4 > 12 We still use inverse operations to isolate the variable, so we subtract 4 from each side. x > 8

6 You Try! Solve the following inequalities: x + 8 > 11 x/4 < 3 6 > 2x

7 Partner Practice With the person next to you, solve the following inequalities and graph on a number line. 4 + x < x/ 9 > 3 9x < x > 10 15 < 4 + x x ÷ 3 > 5 x - 5 > < x – 2 11 > x/ x > 9
