How to Install Transfer Switches?
2
What is Transfer Switch? A transfer switch can be either automatic or manual. It serves to redirect electricity from the primary source to the backup source. These are typically used with generators hardwired into homes or businesses. A manual switch requires human intervention in order to convert the power source. This could be as simple as the click of a button or the flip of a switch. However, an automatic transfer switch requires no intervention on your part whatsoever. When the power shuts off, your automatic transfer switch will detect the power lapse and do its job on its own.

First of all, if it is not installed properly, it will not work. And if the improper installation damages the generator in any way, you may find yourself voiding the warranty. And finally, any time you are dealing with electricity, safety is of the utmost importance. If you are not a licensed and trained electrician, your best bet is to leave it to the specialists to handle for you. They will do a good job and eliminate all the worries. Shut down the switchgear Clean away any grime with a special solvent. Inspect insulation for cracks and discolorations. Inspect contacts for pitting and discolorations. Inspect arcing contacts for corrosion. Inspect control relay contacts for erosion and discolorations. Manually check the transfer movement for proper action. Inspect wire connections to the switch control. Turn on the switchgear and test it by imitating a source failure. Maintenance of Transfer Switches

They make the use of a generator safe. In many localities, you are required to have your generator transfer switch installed by an electrician, which helps to go an extra step further in ensuring the safe use of your generator in your home or office. They can also make the use of your generator much more convenient. It is possible to opt for an automatic generator transfer switch so that when the power goes out, the source of your power can switch automatically over to your generator and you will not lose power to the important systems in your home.
