Shakespearean Acting Classes in New York City Acting in a Shakespeare play, no matter the role is a big deal, whether it is on community stage or on Broadway and it takes a lot of effort and hard work on your part to make that happen. So, you are planning to audition for a Shakespeare play; the neat thing about most onstage plays is that it is generally open to all with one catch, you still have to audition for the play.

The problem or challenge Check out some of the Shakespeare acting classes and workshops to polish those acting skills. But before auditioning for a play, you may want to review some of the tips posted below and avoid the mistakes most amateur actors make. Know your Shakespeare: Before auditioning for a Shakespeare role, it is vital that you know your Shakespeare; chances are that those sitting on the other end of the auditioning table will be quite thorough when it comes to selecting their cast. So make sure that you keep yourself well informed on Shakespeare and know everything from ‘feminine endings’ to the difference between prose and verse.

Take your audition seriously: Companies have rented studios, props, for the audition and are quite serious about the same. Naturally you would be expected to take the audition seriously, so make sure that you respond to any call backs on time and always take the audition seriously. One of the mistakes that quite a few amateur actors make, when auditioning for a Shakespeare role is to appear in period costumes. The period costume is not going to help your case if you cannot relax and remember your lines on cue. Just remember to dress in something that you are comfortable in, and prep for your audition, that’s it.
5
Be creative: When delivering your monologue or lines, try to be creative but not so much, that it veers off completely in a new direction altogether. And remember, to thank those auditioning you at the end of your audition. Good manners always win out so do not act the diva. These are some of the don’ts that you need to look out for when auditioning for your Shakespeare role. Just search online for “Shakespeare workshops NYC”, and attend the same for the latest tips and techniques.
