Secondary Sources A secondary source is a book or article typically written by an academic or journalist several years after an event occurs Should locate at least 6 secondary sources Unpublished secondary sources or secondary sources ONLY online should not be used in this paper More sources is always better than less sources Keep track of where you find your sources Zotero

Research Question What types of questions are your secondary sources asking? Answering your research question will become the foundation for your paper’s thesis. Your research question should be placed at the TOP of your annotated bibliography.

Topic Summary Short paragraph that describes the topic you will be conducting research on Topic summary should provide some information on why the subject is important to the history of women Topic summaries should be part of your annotated bibliography – they come after the research question, but before the book citations

Annotated Citations Separate primary sources from secondary sources
Use Turabian (Chapter 17) for proper citation format for bibliographies Annotations should be short (1 or 2 sentences) and original descriptions of the book/article If you cannot write an annotation because of a book/article hasn’t arrived from ILL, note that in your annotation and attach a copy of your ILL request page to the bibliography A sample annotated bibliography can be found at the end of the paper guidelines
