(A) Large bowel obstruction. Upright AP radiograph of the abdomen shows multiple large air-fluid levels within dilated large bowel loops. (B) Supine AP radiograph shows the air within the transverse colon and both flexures, the most nondependent portions of the colon. Haustral markings of the colon can be visualized (white arrow) which are not circumferential, unlike valvulae conniventes of the small bowel.
