When we do exercise, sports or play in the playground we are doing physical activity. Today I am going to teach you about being fit and healthy. Do you all want to become Fit Factor Champions? This is Fit Faye and she will teach you everything you need to know about being a Fit Factor Champion. 3

Being a Fit Factor Champion is NOT about…
Being a Fit Factor Champion is not about being the fastest at races, being picked for a sports team or having the best trainers. 4

14
If we are not careful, we can sit, be lazy, play video games and watch TV for too long. This is not good for our bodies. The only rest our bodies need is when we go to sleep at night! We should be moving lots throughout the day if we want to be fit and healthy. 14
15
We are going to look at the 3 different types of physical activity that you can do to become a Fit Factor Champion! 15
16
There are 3 different types of physical activity!
Light physical activity Moderate physical activity Intense physical activity 16
17
Light physical activity
You are moving but not very fast. Your heart beats a little bit quicker than normal and you do not sweat. You are able to sing whilst doing light physical activity! Get children to clap out the beats. 60 beats per minute (i.e. 1 beat per second) represents light physical activity. You can also use a drum or tambourine to count out beats. 17
18
Moderate physical activity
Your heart beats faster and you sweat a little. You will be able to talk but not be able to sing whilst doing moderate physical activity! Get children to clap out the beats. 120 beats per minute (i.e. 2 beats per second) represents moderate physical activity. You can also use a drum or tambourine to count out beats. 18
19
Intense physical activity
You are breathing hard and fast. Your heart will be beating really quickly and you are sweating. You will not be able to say more than 3 words at a time without stopping for a breath. You will not be able to sing whilst doing intense physical activity! Get children to clap out the beats. 180 beats per minute (i.e. 3 beats per second) represents physical activity. You can also use a drum or tambourine to count out beats. 19
20
Intense physical activity is the best type of physical activity but all types are good!
20
21
Activity Time You are now going to look at different activities and decide if they are light, moderate or intense! Remember… = Light = Moderate = Remember: 1 clap per second = light physical activity 2 claps per second = moderate physical activity 3 claps per second = intense physical activity Intense 21

You need at least 60 minutes of intense or moderate physical activity every day
Lunch time is half of the 60 minutes of physical activity that you need. Break time is a quarter of the 60 minutes that you need. 73
