Innovation Forum: 2011 AGM We have 5 simple questions and would like to ask you to work in groups to answer these: What are the core benefits of BSHAA membership? As a paying BSHAA member which activities and support do you value the most? In what areas would you like BSHAA to increase focus and activity? Are there something that you miss from BSHAA? And how could we close that gap? What are potential challenges for delivering BSHAA membership support and how would you address these?

Innovation Forum: 2011 AGM Objectives:
By working in groups we will explore opportunities to improve BSHAA support and value to our members. Process: A - Breakout group discussion to generate and collect ideas (30mins) B – Prioritisation of input from flipchart (15 mins) C – Create idea cards from prioritisation task (20 mins) D – Pin idea cards to wall for all to prioritise with dots (15 mins) E – Select top ranking cards and present back to the group (30 mins)

Enhancing professional status and standards of practice:- Major review of ‘BSHAA Guidance on Professional Practice for Hearing Aid Audiologists’ (2010):- Guidance will be more comprehensive Drive greater consistency of practice Will be used to prove that we practise to high standards It will shout QUALITY!!

Enhancing professional status and standards of practice (cont):- NICE accreditation is being investigated Closer links are being forged with other organisations such as the BSA, BTA, BAA and Hearing Link as well all universities with HCPC-approved degree programmes Membership of the EPP Committee widened Small working groups formed to focus on adult rehabilitation, tinnitus, DSP technologies and CPD

Steering advanced practitioner status and extended scope of practice:- After the recent publication by the BSA of ‘Common Principles of Rehabilitation for Adults’, the EPPC has started work on a practice guidance document translating the evidence-based principles into a practice guidance document relevant to our profession. The EPPC Tinnitus Special Interest Group is working on a course enabling interested members to extend their scope of practice in tinnitus management.

Online or e-learning with CPD accreditation CPD helpline/forum/blog CPD section of the BSHAA website is the 2nd most visited section - three online tutorials. In 2013, a new CPD service is planned – online access to articles with MCQ assessments and BSHAA CPD points. PowerPoint slides from Professional Development meetings are routinely available on our website. Feasibility of more online tutorials with recorded dialogue is being investigated. Objective is an affordable UK version of ‘Audiology Online’ with CPD accreditation. CPD/Practice Guidance Helpline is

More in-depth training sessions/themed days/technical content More educational activities/refresher or back-to-basics courses/weekend workshops In 2012, BSHAA has organised a 2 day Congress, 3 full day and 3 half day regional professional development meetings. This is more than any other organisation in the field of audiology in the UK. We can do more but only as much as attendance at these meetings justifies! Everything is possible if members support us!
