L.O. - To read, write and order numbers unto the value of 1,000,000 and determine the value of each digit.

Which is the digit with the lesser value?
Obviously 0 is less than 2 so 12,022 is worth less than 12,201.
This may seem obvious but you must be careful with longer, more complex numbers.
When ordering numbers, make sure you start with the column which has the greatest value.
If both numbers have the same value you are comparing, you move to the next column…

6. Rounding
We use rounding to make complex numbers easier to understand or use. When we do this, it is important that we keep the number as close as we can to the original value.
Example - 73 rounded to the nearest 10 would be 70 73 70 80

7. 429 rounded to the nearest 100 would be 400 - it is closer to 400.

8. 1500 rounded to the nearest 1000 would be this is because when ever the digit is 5 or more, we round up.

If there are 2134 students at Cambridge English School and they all drink 1 litre of water per day, assuming we are in school for 158 days, approximately how many litres would they drink in a full school year?
