10 JULY 2016 1000L – OCHA reports that several thousand people are missing and that there are 30,000+ IDP’s. Roads and bridges in NW Griffon are severely damaged and impassable. Towns in isolated areas requesting urgent medical and food supplies. Water is the primary concern with Griffon requiring 10,000 jerry cans and 30,000 buckets for water storage and hygiene. IFRC has promised 20,000 jerry cans. Restricted road access to populations in rural areas will require airlifts for delivery of aid. 1100L – Lelehana airport is damaged beyond use, Hanakawa Airport is assessable by helicopter. 1110L – GRoG Reports that casualties have increased to 3,722 dead, 10,530 injured. Cell phone coverage is severely degraded in Lelehana, Waipalamu and Aawaa areas.
