Possible “Hook” # 1 World War I was one of history’s great tragedies. It lasted for four years and claimed million lives. What were the undying causes of the wars?

Possible “Hook” # 2 Otto von Bismarck once said that a great war might someday be caused by “Some damned foolish thing in the Balkans”- That foolish thing was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and it was indeed the spark that started WW I

Possible “Hook” # 3 In 1914 Europe went to war with itself. Entire high school graduating classes of young English, French, German, and Russian soldiers died fighting one another along the Western and Eastern Fronts. The war took millions of combatants and civilian lives. How did this happen?

Possible “Hook” # 4 In 1918, European confidence was badly shaken. Ten million soldiers had died, another 20 million had been wounded. Empires lay in tatters. Writers wrote of broken dreams. What went wrong? What led to this disaster?
