9 How to do Research? (1) Define Research Direction / Area
First of all, Read and Understand last 3 years journals/conferences in the defined area (and the associated references)  Start with flagship conferences  Then move on to top tier journals  Write a summary/PPT for every paper read 9

10 How to do Research? (2) You should have first idea after reading and understanding papers Using the idea, implement and test and compare performance with 3 previous best Generally, for PhD you will need to read papers Contribute 3 ideas significant enough to be accepted/published in IEEE Transactions, and you are done! 10
