JULIET By Lauren, Ilaria and Laura

2 First impressions Quiet and obedient towards her parents Naïve
Mature attitude towards marrying Paris for her mother. “I’ll look to like, if looking liking move” Has no freedom like Romeo to roam freely around the city.

3 Juliet at the start The relationship between Juliet and her Nurse is extremely strong and this is shown throughout the play. They very close because the nurse has been like a mother to Juliet. It is clear that they are close because the nurse is the only one Juliet tells about Romeo. Juliet is clearly comfortable around the nurse and is at ease talking to her. When her parents were forcing her to marry Paris, she went to the nurse, who said, “I think it best you married with the county…… Romeo’s a dish clout to him.” This is not what Juliet wanted to hear and from this point on their strong bond was gone.

4 Juliet respects her mother and wants to live up to her expectations, but finds she must rebel in order to keep her marriage to Romeo a secret. Juliet does this to prove she is deeply in love with Romeo. Juliet is motivated by love at first sight with Romeo, and even when she found out that he was a Montague, “ My only love sprung from my only hate”.

5 Stages of Juliet’s Character!
Point Evidence Juliet is quiet She says very little in Act 1, Scene 3 Juliet is innocent We are told she is not quite 14 several times Juliet is not shy She lets Romeo kiss her at their first meeting Juliet speaks directly She tells Romeo he kisses 'by th'book' (that he kisses well or without any real feeling) Juliet is in love She says he is her 'only love' Juliet commits herself to him She says: 'All my fortunes at thy foot I'll lay' She believes in him She asks: 'Shall I speak ill of my husband?' and later gives her 'ring to my true knight' She disobeys her mother She tells her 'I will not marry', and that she will marry Romeo rather than Paris She is brave She says 'Tell me not of fear', and is quick to commit suicide, saying 'I'll be brief'

6 Juliet Throughout the play
Juliet is influenced by her parents, by them forcing her to marry Paris. She influences Romeo in love at first sight, and she is influenced by him in the same way. She is deeply affected by the death of her cousin Tybalt, who is killed by Romeo. She is more effected by the banishment of Romeo and does not want him to leave.

7 Juliet Quotes “I’ll look to like, if looking liking move”
“My only love sprung from my only hate” “Oh Romeo! Romeo where fore art thou Romeo, deny thy father and refuse thy name and fore I will no longer be a Capulet” “Oh happy dagger”

8 Juliet by the End By the end Juliet has matured in many ways and both learnt and gained knowledge that the Capulet and Montague families can be together and get along. But she had lost both her lover’s life and her own life.
